It was my intention to write a book about Tollers, for people who will be
getting a puppy. I wanted a book, in which you can find all the information
about any subject related to the life of a Toller. I also wanted a lot of
pictures in it, because it's basically a lot of fun to see how many
different kinds of Tollers there are.
The book obviously starts with the history. I researched it and came up with
some stories, some more believable than others. After that I started looking
into the history of the first 5 years of Belgium and Holland. It's obvious
that a lot has happened after that, but you have to draw a line somewhere.
After this I write about the breed standard, and a character description,
which should be available in any dog book. The chapter Ailments and
congenital deviations isn't only about the eyes and hips. In the 2nd edition
some things were added to that chapter, things which could also happen to a
Toller. There is also a very elaborate chapter about the breeding of Tollers
(written by Els van de Langeberg of the kennel Of Great Pleasure). A
complete puppy training course, and a number of important affairs like your
dog being home alone, is also included. After this there is an enumeration
about the possibilities with a Toller, like working or obedience.
In the 4th edition, all chapters are also detailed with lots of colour
photos (over 160 new photo's). The full colour photos clearly show the internal
differences which are possible between our Tollers. Also in full colour are
a number of pictures of Tollers with errors. For example a wrong colour
(buff) and a wrong positioning of the ears.
It has been great working together with everyone, who has enthusiastically
contributed to making this beautiful Tollerbook happen.
How to order the book, is described under the button 'how to order'
I wish you a lot of reading pleasure,
Judith. |
